WORK IN PROGRESS
Welcome to ARM-Net,
ARM is the abbreviation for Ano-Rectal Malformations. Anorectal malformations are congenital malformations caused by embryonic aberration of the uro-rectal septum. These types of malformations occur in approximately 1: 2500 births.
The ARM-Net Consortium is a group of professionals and patient representatives that aim to exchange data and knowledge to improve clinical care and to perform research on congenital anorectal malformations. For this purpose, the Consortium created a data- and biobank of ARM patients, which serves as a base for the research on ARM. Local data base collections and new data base collections will be combined to create opportunities for larger scaled research.
One of the specific objectives is to identify genetic and environmental risk factors in the etiology of syndromic and nonsyndromic anorectal malformations. A second aim is to harmonize diagnostic classifications, interventions and follow-up to improve outcome and quality of life of ARM patients.
Current members of the ARM-Net Consortium are clinicians, epidemiologists, geneticists, psychologistis and patient organizations involved in (research on) anorectal malformations from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, and Ukraine.
